Obtain Collision Reports

Obtain a Copy of a Collision Report

Collision reports may be requested by phone, e-mail, or in person at the police department. A fee of $10 must be paid in advance to the Lexington City Treasurer Office before the report is released. Eligible report copies will be made available within ten business days of our receiving your properly completed request.

Reports are only available if the collision was investigated by the Lexington Police Department. If the collision occurred outside the city or was investigated by another agency, you must contact that agency for a copy of the collision report.

Dissemination of collision reports is restricted to the person(s) involved or injured in the accident or their attorney, or any authorized representative of any insurance carrier reasonably anticipating exposure to civil liability as a consequence of the accident. Law offices and insurance carriers may request and receive reports by mail, but must first have a letter on file listing agents authorized to receive report copies. A signed release from the person being represented must accompany each request.

All requested reports must be approved for release by the Commonwealth Attorneys Office prior to dissemination.
